We Put Our Heart in Every Batch
Growing up in Arima meant Christmas visits with family, food filling the house, and parang drifting through the yard. Moments that shaped how we understand warmth, community, and home. Those memories are a big part of what inspires the things we make today. For us, flavour has always been a kind of storytelling, a way to carry pieces of our culture wherever we go.
For us, Sorrel began as a holiday tradition in Trinidad & Tobago, making homemade sorrel over the stove in small batches for family and friends. Now, at Isle & Ember, it’s homemade year-round in Brooklyn with that same warmth and love in every bottle.

What makes our
Sorrel special?
Made by steeping the dried petals of the Hibiscus (Roselle) flower and fragrant spices, Sorrel is a vibrant, antioxidant-rich, refreshing beverage for any occasion.
Rooted in Tradition, Sorrel, also known as Bissap in West Africa, Agua de Jamaica in Mexico and Karkadé in parts of Asia and the Middle East, is a caffeine- and alcohol-free beverage for any occasion.
Sorrel isn’t just refreshing. It’s made with real ingredients that nourish and restore. Every sip is a blend of hibiscus, spices, and honey. Brewed slowly to capture that cozy, spiced aroma that fills the room.
Hibiscus is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, while the added ginger and clove bring natural warmth and support for digestion and circulation.
From making Sorrel while listening to parang on Christmas day in the heat of Trinidad & Tobago, to standing over grandma’s gas stove in Queens, our sorrel has always been a homemade brew.
Isle & Ember represents our own blended West Indian and African heritage, perfectly joining the warmth of the holidays and the vibrant sweet taste that has been enjoyed by cultures around the globe.
